Reasons a Pink Spider Plant Should Be Part of Your Home or Office Décor

The pink spider plant is not actually a spider plant. In fact, spider plants don’t grow in colors other than green and yellow, and variegated shades of green and yellow.

However, the pink spider flower is often confused with a spider plant, and therefore often gets called a pink spider plant. The Cleome hassleriana, or the “rose queen,” truly does look like a majestic flower.

You would do well to grow one of these glorious plants in your home or office, as they are easy to care for and hardy.

Growing up to 5 feet high, the pink spider flower can grow close to a window, as it calls for plenty of sunlight, but not too much. It will keep the air in your room clean by absorbing many toxins and breathing out oxygen.

It is also a fragrant flower, with blooms that stand tall on the top of long stems. The flower is a large ball of flowers that protrudes from long stamens with palmate leaves that can grow in colors that range from green to purple.

The flowers can bloom in pinks and purples as well, making this startling foliage ideal for any home or office. Native to warm regions in South America, the pink spider flower offers more than just a pretty face.

The pink spider plant needs plenty of water, so be sure to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. When you stick your finger in the soil, if you feel moisture in the top 1 inch of the soil, you can leave the plant. If you feel the top inch is dry, you can water the soil until it drains through.

Other Conditions that Are Important to a Pink Spider Plant

Fortunately, the pink spider plant is not prone to pests or diseases. However, if you notice aphids or spider mites, you can spray the plant liberally with neem oil every couple of days for a few weeks until you notice the pests are gone.

If you notice powdery mildew, you can treat the plant with a fungicide. Further, you can also prune the heads of the dying flowers to make the flowering plant bushier.

Also be mindful that you must watch the temperature in which you keep your pink spider flower. As a plant native to South America, you’ll want to maintain a temperature between 65 degrees and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature drops too low, the plant could die as it is not tolerant.

Otherwise, just be sure not to overwater the soil to prevent it from getting waterlogged.

Pink Spider Plant Decorating Ideas

The best place to keep your pink spider flower is next to a window where it will get plenty of sunlight. Pay attention so it does not burn or fail to bloom. This balance may take some experimentation.

You can plant the flower in a large pot as it will grow up to 5 feet tall, which means it will need a large expanse in which to grow. The roots will also need to spread out.

Use a neutral color pot, so the leaves and flowers can really pop. You can surround it with other greenery, but let this flower be the only one of its kind so it can stand out and take up space.
