Design Tips – DIY Tips For Creating Your Own Artificial Plant Arrangements

Here at MAGT, we love DIY projects. Whether it’s updating your outdoor space or improving the feng shui flow of your interior spaces, we’re always looking for ways to help our customers and readers create new projects.

Recently, we came across this amazing YouTube video, where the host provides a step-by-step guide to creating a beautiful floral arrangement using an urn, foam blocks, and a variety of different foliage. The design that she creates can leverage live plants, artificial plants, or a combination of the two.

Our favorite tip from this video is the reminder that “nothing in nature is perfect“! The great thing about creating your faux plant arrangement with foam and artificial stems and plants is you can adjust it as you see fit. If it didn’t turn out perfectly the first time, just try again. That’s part of the fun of DIY…right?

There are lots of ways to create DIY artificial plants. Here are the steps on making artificial plants:

*Remember, the goal is to always make fake plants look real, even if they are artificial arrangements.

Step 1: Buy materials that represent plants. You might even try replicas of fake plants like these:

Step 2: Make sure you have a container in which you’d like to hold your new arrangement. Check out the following cute plant holders and pots below:

Step 3: Next, you’ll want to get some “fake soil” to lay your materials on. Make sure to get pebbles or fake sand grains to make your fake plants look real.

Step 4: Finally, add your materials together! Gather the ones you think are the best fit for each other and put them in one of your containers, and add some soil, and voila! You have just created your very own artificial plant arrangement!

These are perfect for gifts for your friends and family during the holidays, as birthday presents and more!

For those of you who don’t have that creative spark, or just want to sit back and enjoy the beauty of products like the one created in the video, check out these beautiful arrangements:
